Ice fishing in Sweden: Bohdan’s story
-
Hi everyone,
I want to share another fishing story, which told me Bohdan from Sweden, and his experience with VADOS21 luresNovember 23rd turned out to be a special day for me this season. It was the first ice, in the Stockholm area, at one of the shallow, isolated sea bays with a depth of about 1.5 meters. The weather was cold, -3°C, and the sky was slightly overcast, adding to the atmosphere of true ice fishing. There were a few other anglers on the ice, but luck was clearly on my side this time. Every cast brought a bite. While my neighbors had some results, their activity levels were noticeably lower.
For this trip, I used a simple “balalaika” rod paired with the RED SUNSET jig. I experimented with different jig colors, but the red hue of this model performed the best. The perch were attracted to a smooth playstyle with a high amplitude, which seemed to provoke their strikes. Using maggots was a key factor — the fish bit significantly better with them, though bites also occurred without bait. Maggots turned out to be an essential helper. In less than two hours, I caught over three dozen perch. This result surprised even me.
This was my fourth perch fishing trip this season. After such success, I’m even more convinced that with the right technique and minimal gear, you can achieve incredible results. The first ice always brings a special atmosphere, and this time it delivers unforgettable emotions and an excellent start to the season.
